Nonprofit Offers 3D Printed Dentures

The Free Clinic of Central Virginia in Lynchburg will soon offer 3D printed dentures, thanks to a collaboration with Help, Inc. This partnership, supported by the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (VAFCC) and Delta Dental, enables the clinic to scan patients’ mouths and provide affordable dentures.

Founded in 1987, the clinic has always included dental care in its services, offering tooth extractions, fillings, and support for walk-in patients. This new denture program, initiated by Help, Inc. in 2022, extends to several free clinics across Virginia.

With the necessary equipment funded by VAFCC and Delta Dental, the Free Clinic can scan a patient’s mouth and send the data to Help, Inc. The company then produces the dentures and ships them back within about a month. CEO Jenn Webb expressed excitement about this new capability and gratitude for community support.

Traditionally, dentures can be prohibitively expensive, costing thousands of dollars. However, through this program, a full set of dentures will range from $300 to $400. Some Medicaid plans may cover part of this cost, and the clinic will offer a sliding scale for those paying out of pocket.

This initiative significantly reduces the financial barrier for patients needing dentures and enhances access to essential dental care.
